A former Cambridgeshire police officer has been dismissed following a misconduct hearing where he was found to have sent "misogynistic, predatory, sexually degrading" messages in a WhatsApp group.

PC Kyle Carter-Lawrence, who was based in Peterborough, sent inappropriate messages to the group between June 2016 and March 2024, a panel was told.

At a hearing on 26 March, he was found to have breached the standards of professional behaviour.

It concluded that Carter-Lawrence would have been dismissed if he was still a serving officer.

The hearing was told that Carter-Lawrence was a member of a WhatsApp group named "Original Juicers – Absolute Boro Legends", along with several men not affiliated with the police service.

The messages he sent to the group were said to be "misogynistic, predatory, sexually degrading, discriminatory and implicate him in class A drug use".

Chief Constable Simon Megicks, who chaired the hearing, said the former officer had in some cases endorsed the making of sexual and misogynistic comments, had not sought to tell others to refrain from such language, nor had he decided to leave the group.

He said: "I find this matter proven on the balance of probabilities."

Another allegation found proven was that the former officer "made frequent references to drug taking, use of cocaine and other drugs and received messages for other persons who were so engaged in such activity".

Megicks said at the hearing: "I do not accept the explanation from the officer that he did not associate with persons taking drugs or making references to such.

"The behaviour uncovered in this case fell far below the standards we expect from anyone serving within Cambridgeshire Constabulary.

"This former officer's actions undermined trust, damaged confidence and has no place in policing."
