Library to shut in May ahead of Civic Centre move
LDRSA date has been set for the closure of a town's main library before it relocates.
Reading Central Library, which first opened in 1985, is moving to the redesigned Civic Centre in Bridge Street.
Reading Borough Council said the move was needed because the outdated library building, spread across several floors, made accessibility difficult and costly to improve. The new purpose-built library is fully accessible.
While the move takes place, library services will be unavailable at the existing site on the Kings Road from 11 May, with the new library due to open in the summer.
