Lianne Kirkman said the group's safe home was full but they still had women needing their help

A group that helps vulnerable women has appealed for help as its safe house is now full.

The Esther Project said it needed donations to help support three new women who have sought shelter at its seven-bed supported living accommodation in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, bringing it to capacity.

The community interest company was set up by Lianne Kirkman in 2011, and provides counselling as well as drop-in sessions for women facing issues such as mental health challenges, escaping domestic abuse or homelessness.

"When a woman arrives with us, she's often starting from scratch - emotionally, practically and financially," Kirman said.

"What she needs most is stability. A bed, a warm meal, someone to talk to, and the reassurance that support won't disappear overnight."

People could help through donations towards funding key essentials such as food as well as services such as counselling, she said.

Last year, more than 70 women went to the Esther Proect for help, the group said

Esther House was opened in April 2023 to as a safe haven for women in need of support and accommodation.

Last year, more than 70 women from across Warwickshire sought support from the group.

Kirkman added: "Each woman's journey is different, but consistent support is what enables lasting change.

"This isn't about quick fixes, it's about walking alongside women as they find their footing again - and that takes time, care and community.

"We simply cannot do it without the generosity of our local supporters."

In December they also opened a new pre-loved shop and community hub with a workspace and counselling room on Gloucester Street.
