Drivers told to obey extended road closure
MANX SCENESDrivers have been urged to obey a road closure on a section of the Isle of Man TT course as the period of maintenance works ahead of the event is extended into the weekend.
Lezayre Road has been shut between Ginger Hall and Glen Auldyn since Monday morning for carriageway repairs.
Drivers have been reminded that the road is closed to through traffic on a 24-hour basis and a diversion via St Judes and Jurby Road must be followed.
The Department of Infrastructure (DoI) said teams were working additional hours into the evenings but had "found that the adherence to the diversion at that time is not always as it should be".
"The closure is in place for everyone's safety," the department said. "Through traffic is not permitted at any time."
The road had been due to reopen on Friday, but the DoI said more time was needed to complete the resurfacing and line painting and it route would now reopen no later than 16:30 BST on Sunday.
