Police were called on Sunday 22 March after a man was stabbed

A second arrest has been made in connection with a stabbing that left a man with life-threatening injuries.

Suffolk Police was called to Mortimer Road in Bury St Edmunds at about 22:15 GMT on Sunday 22 March after a man in his 40s was found injured.

The force said five suspects wearing dark clothing and face coverings were reported to have fled the scene in the Moreton Hall area.

On Monday, a 38-year-old man was arrested in Bury St Edmunds on suspicion of attempted murder. It followed the arrest last week of a 44-year-old man in London, also on suspicion of attempted murder. Both men have been released on bail.

Police said the man who was stabbed remained in hospital in a "serious but stable condition".

Three cars suspected to have been used in the incident have been seized.

They are a black Nissan Note, a beige or light-coloured Nissan Note and a black Nissan Micra.

Police are asking anyone with information about the vehicles to come forward.

Patrols by uniformed officers will continue to take place around Mortimer Road.
