Residents in a residential area of Hull were told to close their doors and windows as a fire took hold at an industrial yard.

Humberside Fire and Rescue was called to Lambert Street, off Newland Avenue, at about 11:30 BST.

The blaze started in a skip before spreading to a nearby building. No-one was injured.

The fire service said it was out by the afternoon, but it remained on scene to monitor any hot spots that could reignite.

A spokesperson said: "The smell of smoke may linger for some time so if people are affected, please keep windows and doors closed."
