The Humber Bridge was closed to traffic during the Tuesday morning rush after a fire on a lorry carrying timber.

The road was closed northbound while fire crews put out the blaze.

Humberside Fire and Rescue said it was called just after 07:50 BST and sent three crews to extinguish the fire which it described as "well established".

According to the service, the driver safely exited the vehicle. The fire was put out by 08:55 but the road remained closed.

Traffic was being diverted via the M180, the M18 and the M62.

The bridge reopened to traffic shortly before 15:00.
