Man arrested after assault on two police officers

A teenager has been arrested following an assault on two police officers in Londonderry.

Police attended a report of an ongoing fight involving two men shorty before 21:30 BST in Sackville Street, Derry.

Police say one of the men had been behaving in an aggressive manner towards officers, during which a bottle which he was holding smashed.

Two officers sustained hand and arm injuries as a result.

A man in his late teens was subsequently arrested on suspicion of assault on police and wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He remains in police custody at this time.
