Man injured after hot water thrown over him at courthouse

A man has suffered burn injuries to his face and upper body after having hot water thrown over him at Strabane Magistrates' Court.

Police said he was attacked by another man shortly before 11:00 BST on Thursday.

It is not clear at this stage whether the incident happened inside or outside the courtroom.

An ambulance was called to the scene and took the victim to hospital.

Police said the suspect ran away from the scene and police are trying to identify, locate and apprehend him.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland is working with the Northern Ireland Courts and Tribunals Service.

Detectives have appealed to the public for information.

The office of the Lady Chief Justice said it would inappropriate to comment, due to the ongoing police investigation.
