Arrest after hot water thrown over man at courthouse

A man has been arrested after another man suffered serious burns when a kettle of boiling water was thrown over him at a courthouse.

The incident happened at Strabane Magistrates' Court, County Tyrone, on Thursday morning.

The 34-year-old suspect has been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, attempted grievous bodily harm with intent, and having an offensive weapon with intent.

The victim, who suffered burns to his face, neck and shoulders, was initially taken to Altnagelvin Hospital in Londonderry before being transferred to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.
