Crafters in Cornwall have expressed their "anger and disappointment" after four Easter-themed covers were removed from bollards in Carnon Downs.

Joy MacDonald, who runs Carnon Downs Crafters, said the group had been creating bollard covers for more than five years, adding none had been taken or damaged in the past.

"It's quite distressing," she said. "We put a lot of effort into it and then for some mindless idiots to come along and just do that."

Another member of the craft group, Lesley Rance, discovered the covers were missing on Sunday while walking her dog. "It annoys me," she said. "It spoils it for everybody."

Lesley Rance said the group "won't be beaten" by the incident

MacDonald said she hoped the missing covers were part of a prank and urged those responsible to leave the covers in a phone box in the village.

"We can't imagine why anyone would want to remove these bollard covers."

Rance said: "We work hard to do it, we do it for the village.

"We don't do it for ourselves and everyone loves it. The kids love it. Everyone comes round taking pictures.

"We won't be beaten by it."
