Search for man reported missing along coast

The coastguard said crews were called out to reports of a man in the water near Greenaway Beach, Polzeath

Searches are ongoing for a man who is missing after getting into difficulty in the water near a beach.

HM Coastguard said it received reports at about 16:35 BST on Sunday of a man in the water at Greenaway Beach in Polzeath, Cornwall.

It said the Polzeath and Boscastle Coastguard Rescue Teams, a coastguard helicopter and RNLI lifeboats from Padstow and Rock were called to the scene along with Devon and Cornwall Police and paramedics.

Police said the man remained missing. A coastguard spokesperson added a second man reported to have gone into the water managed to get back to land safely by himself.
