A new head teacher has been appointed to the only school in Alderney.

Anthony Griffin has been assistant head teacher at Victoria College in Jersey and is set to be the new head of St Anne's School in September.

Griffin said he was excited to join the "very special school" and "play my part in ensuring the children of Alderney receive the education they deserve."

The school's current head teacher Wendy Wilson announced in January she would take early retirement after more than 30 years in teaching.

Chair of the school's board Ian Carter said Antony Griffin had a "wholehearted belief" in the potential of every child in Alderney

Ian Carter, chair of the board of St Anne's School, said: "Anthony brings a rare blend of strategic clarity, deep pastoral commitment and a wholehearted belief in the potential of every child on Alderney.

"His leadership will strengthen the school's ambitions, its community partnerships, and its culture of care."
