A man has been charged with murdering a 27-year-old who was found with fatal injuries on a Birmingham road.

Adisu Chala was discovered on Mott Street shortly after 00:30 BST on Monday and was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was "someone who brought light into the lives of others," his family said in a tribute, adding he would be remembered for his "generosity, warmth, sense of humour, dedication, and for the way he cared for those around him".

Momodou Johm, 39, from Bristol, has been charged with murder and set to appear before magistrates in Birmingham later, said West Midlands Police.

"To us, he was more than the circumstances of his passing - he was a son, a brother, an uncle, a friend, someone who brought light into the lives of others," his family added.

"His absence leaves a profound void that cannot be filled. No parent, nor any brother or sister, should ever have to bury a loved one so young," it added.

"We want justice for what happened."

To the right is a pavement with litter strewn on the floor and there are three people standing on the pavement with their backs to the camera.
