A £400,000 road maintenance scheme in Norton Canes is due to start next week.

Highways crews will replace ironwork and damaged kerbs along the B4151 Walsall Road, before resurfacing part of the road between 50m (164ft) south of Betty's Lane to 50m (164ft) north of Norton Green Lane.

The work will begin on Tuesday and will take about four weeks to complete, Staffordshire County Council said.

Darryl Eyers, director for economy, infrastructure and skills at the authority, said the improvements would help to extend the life of the carriageway and reduce the need for future repairs.

He added: "Our crews will be working efficiently to complete the scheme as quickly as possible, and we're grateful to residents and road users for their patience while this important maintenance work is carried out."

Temporary traffic lights will be installed until 17 April, with overnight closures scheduled to start from 20 April.

Diversions will be in place and clearly signed throughout, the authority added.
