Arrest after woman dies in serious crash
GoogleA man has been arrested after an elderly woman died in a two-vehicle crash.
Emergency services were called to Gloucester Road in Standish, near Stonehouse, shortly before 13:00 BST, to reports of a collision.
Gloucestershire Police confirmed a 79-year-old woman from Gloucester, who was driving a Nissan, died at the scene. A 34-year-old man also from Gloucester, who was driving a Vauxhall, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, driving without a licence and driving without insurance. He remains in custody.
A road closure from the junction for the Javelin Park incinerator to Horsemarling Lane is still in place.
The closure is expected to remain in place for a number of hours, with drivers urged to find alternative routes.
Anyone who witnessed the collision has been asked to contact police.
