What have been the big stories in the West this week?

A man who murdered his wife and never revealed where her body is can be released from prison after a Parole Board decision, Wiltshire Times reports. Glyn Razzell's estranged wife Linda vanished in Swindon in 2002.

Bristol City Council has 21 days to forcibly evict vans from roads around the Downs, thanks to a court ruling, according to Bristol Live. However, the authority failed to secure an injunction to stop vans from returning to the roads.

Stroud's much-loved Stratford Park lido could reopen this summer after the council agreed to look at essential repairs, reports Gloucestershire Live.

A memorial service to honour the life of former Bristol Rugby captain Matt Salter drew large crowds to Bristol Cathedral, says Bristol24/7. Salter, who captained the Bristol Bears – then Bristol Shoguns – for four seasons, died aged 49 in March.

And a four-year-old girl has been praised for carrying out her very own beach clean, according to Burnham-on-Sea.com.

A 19-year-old care leaver from Bristol has described feeling "like a ghost" after she was moved between more than 40 placements – which were often miles away from home, ITV West Country reports.

In Bristol last year, for the first time, more than half of children in care were reportedly placed outside of the city.

The council said it was working to tackle the problem by opening more children's homes in the city and bringing children back to their homes where it is safe to do so.
