Woman accused of arson in court over flat fire

A 44-year-old woman has appeared in court charged with starting a fire at a flat in North Yorkshire.

Emma Largan is accused of arson with intent to endanger life and burglary following the blaze on Woodbine Close in Great Ayton, which broke out in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

No pleas were entered during the hearing at York Magistrates' Court on Thursday.

Largan, of Woodbine Close in Great Ayton, was told she would next appear before Teesside Crown Court on 1 May.

No-one was injured in the fire, but North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said it had caused extensive damage to the property.
