Church conversion for dilapidated warehouse approved
Eirian EvansPlans to turn a dilapidated storage building on a narrow lane in a Borders town into a church have been approved.
Scottish Borders Council agreed the change of use for Isaac House on Armatage Street in Eyemouth.
A design statement for the proposals by The Highway Christian Fellowship said it would "respect the architectural character of the building and surrounding context".
Objections were raised about the potential noise, disruption and increase in traffic but planning councillors gave the proposals the all clear.
The two-storey property is in the heart of Eyemouth within its conservation area and is next to a listed building, although it is not listed itself.
Planning committee members carried out a site visit before deciding whether or not to approve the plans.
They concluded that the property was an "eyesore" and that bringing it back into use would benefit the town.
A planning report for councillors also said there were no material considerations on which to base a refusal and the committee approved the plans.
