Driver admits killing woman in police pursuit crash
Family handoutA dangerous driver has admitted killing his passenger in a head-on crash while being pursued by police.
Taylor Jenkins, 24, from Edinburgh, died when Kane Farragher crashed his white BMW into an oncoming car on the A19 near Sunderland shorty before 03:00 GMT on 1 March.
At the time, Northumbria Police said officers had been pursuing Farragher after he failed to pull over when they signalled for him to.
Farragher, 24, from Birkenhead, Merseyside, admitted offences including causing death by dangerous driving when he appeared at Newcastle Crown Court. He was remanded in custody to be sentenced on 1 May.
Ms Jenkins' family previously said she was "deeply loved" and would be "missed more than words can ever express".
"Her kindness, laughter, and beautiful spirit touched so many lives, and her memory will live on in all of us," they said.
The BMW collided with a VW Sharan and the driver required hospital treatment, but his injuries were not serious.
Northumbria Police referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) over the crash.
An IOPC spokesman said an investigation was ongoing.
