A man who died after being hit by a car near Barnsley, prompting a murder inquiry, has been named by his family.

Officers said Liam Green, 45, died at the scene after he was struck by a white VW Tourareg on Rose Tree Avenue, Cudworth, at about 17:00 BST on Friday.

Two men, aged 33 and 60, a 38-year-old woman and a 17-year-old boy have been arrested on suspicion of murder. All four remain in custody.

In a tribute shared by South Yorkshire Police, his family said: "We hope you're at peace now. We all love you very much, sending you big hugs from your mam, sons, brother and family."

A force spokesperson said inquiries were ongoing and urged anyone with information to contact officers.
