A man in his late 60s has died after a two-car crash in County Louth on Monday night.

Gardaí (Irish police) said two cars were involved in the incident, which happened on the N53 at Rassan - close to the border with Northern Ireland - at about 22:15 BST.

The man, who was driving one of the cars, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A woman in her 20s, who was in the second car, was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.
