New marina tours have been launched to mark the opening of a Hull maritime tourist attraction.

They start from the Spurn Lightship, which reopened on 7 March after being closed to visitors since 2018.

The one-hour guided tours would run every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday at 11:30 BST, Hull City Council said.

Gillian Osgerby, Hull Maritime's programme director, said: "The introduction of these new marina tours marks another exciting step in sharing Hull's rich maritime history with the public."

The lightship was built in 1927 and was in service for almost 50 years, helping guide ships through the Humber Estuary.

It has been renovated as part of the £27.5m Hull Maritime project.

As part of the project, the Arctic Corsair, Hull's last sidewinder trawler, will also be moved to a dry dock at the North End Shipyard and used to host tours.

Tickets are £5 and can be booked via the Hull Museums website.
