A man charged with stealing more than £12,000-worth of weight-loss jabs from his employer has failed to appear in court.

Connor Dennett, 27, from Wigan, was charged with theft by an employee - after allegedly stealing 120 units of Mounjaro from AAH Pharmaceuticals Ltd in Warrington.

Mounjaro is a weekly weight-loss injection, first licensed to help treat type 2 diabetes, but now also prescribed for weight loss purposes. The business value of the units allegedly stolen on 16 April 2025 was given as £12,840.

Dennett was due to appear at Warrington Magistrates' Court on 31 March, but failed to attend. A warrant for his arrest has since been issued, police confirmed.

Mounjaro has become an increasingly popular weight-loss choice in the UK over the past year, but NHS prescriptions for the drug are not available from all local GPs - and patients must meet certain criteria to obtain one.

Courses of the drug can be also prescribed by private clinicians - often at a high cost.

Following the St Albans case, where it was thought the units were stolen for re-sale - people were urged to make sure they were only buying the product from reputable companies, for safety purposes.

Mounjaro is required to be kept at a certain temperature and should only be taken following a prescription from a licensed medical professional.
