Peregrine falcon lays eggs at cathedral nest

A pair of peregrine falcons have successfully nested and laid four eggs at a cathedral, a charity says.

The Hawk and Owl Trust said the eggs were laid between 1 March and 5 April at the man-made nesting ledge on Ely Cathedral in Cambridgeshire.

The building saw its first pair of birds nest at the site in 2019. Last year three eggs were laid but there were no successful chicks, the trust added.

Liberty Wells, outreach and conservation ranger at the trust, said: "Ely is just one of our many urban Peregrine projects and it is great to see these magnificent birds thriving in our cities."
