Large plumes of black smoke could be seen as firefighters tackle a large blaze on Leeds Road in Huddersfield

Firefighting efforts at a large blaze at an industrial unit in Huddersfield have been scaled down, a fire service has said.

At its height, 15 fire engines and two aerial units were sent to Leeds Road, a major road through the town centre, after West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (WYFRS) was called at about 13:00 BST on Sunday. No casualties had been reported.

Two fire engines and one aerial appliance remained at the scene, WYFRS said.

A section of Leeds Road had been closed from the Barr Street junction with a police diversion in place, but this has since been removed.
