A body has been found in the search for a man who went missing five months ago, police have said.

Robert Rees-Hughes was last seen on 29 November walking along Crabmill Lane in Easingwold.

North Yorkshire Police deployed drones and specialist search officers in the weeks that followed as part of efforts to find the 35-year-old.

The force confirmed a body had been found on open land near Easingwold on 17 April and had since been identified as Rees-Hughes.

"Robert's family have been informed, and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time," a spokesperson added.
