Residents urged to share views on fires at beaches
BBCFalmouth residents have been invited to share their views on whether open fires should be banned on local beaches.
Due to the risks involved - including injury, fire spreading and smoke - a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) prohibiting open fires is being considered for Gyllyyngvase, Maenporth, Castle and Swanpool beaches.
Councillor Thalia Marrington said: "We want people to enjoy the beaches, but we have to keep everyone safe.
"We will take your feedback into account before any decisions are made on whether a PSPO should be put in place and if so, what that PSPO should look like."
"Please do complete the survey and have your say," added the cabinet member with responsibility for Community Safety and Public Protection at Cornwall Council.
The move has been suggested by Falmouth Beaches Management Group and Falmouth Town Council.
The survey is available on Let's Talk Cornwall and is due to close on 14 June.
