One person has been taken to hospital with minor injuries after a lorry overturned on the A46 in Leicestershire.

Leicestershire Police and Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service (LFRS) both reported the crash, which took place near the Hobby Horse Roundabout, in Syston, at about 12:30 GMT on Monday.

Police said the road had been closed northbound and urged drivers to find alternative roads.

LFRS said it was an "ongoing incident, and motorists should avoid the area and expect delays".

LFRS said it had handed over the incident to the highways authority and Crouch Recovery.

"Our partners are working to reopen the A46 to Melton soon, but as you can see from the photographs, this is a very large vehicle that has shed its load, and motorists should continue to expect delays and plan alternate routes," a LFRS spokesperson added.
