Three dead and two seriously injured in crash

Three people including a 13-year-old girl have died after their car hit a tree, police said.

A nine-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl are receiving treatment for serious injuries following the incident in North Lincolnshire, Humberside Police said.

Officers said the white Audi was travelling south along Shore Road between Garthorpe and Meredyke Road when it left the road on Saturday evening at about 17:45 GMT.

The force said the driver, a 44-year-old man, the front seat passenger, a 48-year-old man and a 13-year-old girl who was sitting in the back, were all pronounced dead at the scene.

The 15-year-old girl is in a critical condition and her injuries are being treated as life threatening.

Police said their families had been informed and were being supported by officers.

The force said an investigation was under way to establish the circumstances around the collision and appealed for witnesses or anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage to contact them.
