A conservation group has launched a competition for budding photographers to "celebrate the beauty of local nature".

Tees Valley Wildlife Trust is asking people to capture images of the "incredible wildlife" across the region, from parks and gardens to the coastline.

Amateur photographers of all ages can send the charity their snaps until Friday 1 May.

CEO, Tom Harman, said the competition is about celebrating the "brilliant wildlife moments happening across the Tees Valley" by encouraging people to take a closer look at the nature around them.

Participants can submit up to three landscape format images, taken on a phone or camera, as long as they feature wild, native species in natural settings within the Tees Valley and without using AI or heavily editing.

At least 12 winning images will be selected to feature in the Tees Valley Wildlife Trust's 2027 calendar, with one chosen for the front cover.

They will also be shared on the Trust's website and social media channels.

Harman said: "You don't need to travel far to find something special."

The charity hopes the competition will help raise awareness of the importance of protecting and enhancing green spaces across the Tees Valley.
