Five arrests have been made after disorder at protests in Epsom over the past week, Surrey Police says

One further person has been arrested in relation to protests in Epsom linked to a rape investigation, police say.

Surrey Police says five people, aged between 15 and 23 and from across Surrey and London, have now been arrested on suspicion of public order offences linked to protests on Wednesday, 15 April, and Monday, 20 April.

A 15-year-old boy and 23-year-old man, from Purley and Richmond respectively, have also been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage.

Det Ch Supt Jon Groenen said the force was "continuing to review footage to identify those responsible" after the disorder, in which objects were thrown at officers.

All five people arrested have been released on bail, a force spokesperson said.

On Monday, four people were arrested after the most recent protest.

Protesters targeted local hotels and residential properties over claims they were "housing people seeking asylum", which police said was "wholly inaccurate information".

Earlier on Thursday, Surrey Police released images of one man it said it was seeking in relation to its investigations.

He was described by the force as white, of slim build, and with short dark hair. He was wearing a black jacket and was carrying a black rucksack, the force said.

The protests have stemmed from allegations that a woman in her 20s was raped outside Epsom Methodist Church on Saturday, 11 April, though the force has since said that it had found "no evidence" that this happened as reported.
