A specialist school for pupils with moderate learning difficulties and additional needs is raising funds to replace a minibus after two were stolen.

The Park School in Woking said two of its three minibuses were stolen on 15 March and recovered the next day in Pyrford Recreation Ground, but they were stripped for parts, including their engines.

The minibuses were used frequently to take students to local clubs and gyms, for sports fixtures, and for a variety of trips.

The school, which has 110 pupils, said its insurance will cover the costs of one of the minibuses, but it needs to raise £25,000 to replace the second.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help the school reach the sum.

Surrey Police confirmed that an investigation into the thefts has been launched.

A spokesperson for the force said: "The theft took place at around 20:30 GMT on 15 March and involved three suspects.

"Our inquiries are ongoing, including house-to-house. However if you witnessed this incident or have any information that may help our investigation, please contact us."
