Police found a knife in a bin at Green's Mill Park in Sneinton

A teenager was arrested after a bag of drugs and a knife were discarded in a park in Nottingham.

Officers were patrolling Green's Mill Park in Sneinton on Wednesday when a teenager saw them and ran through a play park, Nottinghamshire Police said.

The officers chased him, the force added, and recovered the bag, which contained suspected heroin and cocaine - as well as cash - from bushes. The knife, which was inside a sheath, was found in a bin.

Police said a 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, possession of a knife in public and threatening behaviour.

Insp Steve Dalby said: "Officers are continuing to patrol hotspot areas for drug crime and dealing in our parks and open spaces will always be met with a firm response.

"We'd urge anyone aware of it taking place in their neighbourhood to let us know so we can take appropriate action."
