Les Amis said it is facing higher costs and growing demand

A charity has said it must raise extra funds to continue its work supporting adults with learning disabilities.

Les Amis has asked people to join its new volunteering hub to find new ways to fundraise.

It said it was facing higher cost of living and operational costs, which has meant it had to find extra revenue opportunities to pay to cover the daily needs of its residents and service users.

Those joining the hub would be expected to be involved in activities like selling raffle tickets, assisting with stalls to raise awareness or helping at community events that Les Amis is involved with.

Shaun Findlay from Les Amis said the volunteers would help raise the charity's profile too

The charity hoped the extra volunteers would also deepen its links with the island community as well.

Shaun Findlay, managing director of Les Amis, said: "High living costs mean that people have less disposable income for charitable giving, but we've seen the demand for our services grow."

He added: "We need people to help raise our profile and the visibility of those with learning disabilities within our community."

Les Amis will be holding a volunteering evening between 17:30 and 19:00 BST on Thursday 16 April at Le Capelain Gallery in St Helier Town Hall.
