Two dogs have been seized by police after they killed another dog while it was being walked, police have said.

An American Akita and a French bulldog were taken after the five-year-old cavapoo was attacked in West Bar Street, in Banbury, Oxfordshire, at about 09:00 BST on Good Friday.

Owner of the cavapoo Cherwell District councillor Eddie Reeves, who said he was with his wife and child at the time of incident, described there being "blood all over me and our baby".

Thames Valley Police said it had launched an investigation.

In a post online, Reeves said: "Our darling cavapoo, Coco, has just been mauled to death while walking in town with our five-month-old baby.

"It happened in an instant. There is blood all over me and our baby, neither of us were bitten, nor was my wife who was pushing the pram."

Reeves said he and his family were "distraught" after the incident but said he was thankful for the support he had received.
