Moses Fernandes has admitted killing Terry McFadyen

A man has admitted killing a 71-year-old who he lived with, but has denied murder.

Moses Fernandes, 22, pleaded guilty on Friday at Norwich Crown Court to manslaughter by reason of diminished responsibility after Terry McFadyen was stabbed to death in the city last year.

The pensioner was pronounced dead in Layer Close, Bowthorpe, during the early hours of 3 November.

Fernandes will face a murder trial in June.

He appeared in court via video link from Norwich Prison. Doctors are due to provide reports on his psychiatric health by 22 May.

Judge Anthony Bate set a further case management hearing for 30 April.
