Man found guilty of pipe bomb attempted murder
Brian Farmer/BBCA 38-year-old man has been convicted of attempted murder following the discovery of a pipe bomb.
Robert Kovacs was arrested after police found a explosive device found under an Audi in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, in August.
On Tuesday Kovacs, of Tenby Road, Edgware, north-west, London, was also found guilty of making an explosive substance with intent and acting with intent to cause explosion after a trial at St Albans Crown Court.
Kovacs, who entered not guilty pleas, will be sentenced on 5 May.
Police said officers were called to an address in Cowley Hill, Borehamwood, on Saturday 16 August, following reports of a suspicious object on a driveway.
They said nearby properties were evacuated while explosive specialists examined the homemade device and carried out controlled explosions.
Police said, after the trial, that their investigation had been "extensive and complex".
Det Insp Caeva Taylor added: "I want to thank residents who were evacuated on the day for their patience and understanding during what must have been a very stressful experience."
