Voters are heading to the polls in Cornwall to elect a new councillor.

The by-election for the Newquay Porth and Tretherras ward is being held after Reform UK's first Cornwall Council member Kevin Towill, who was a former mayor of the town, died from a brain tumour in February at the age of 46.

Six candidates are standing for election - Sandy Carter (Liberal Democrats), Topher Chard (Independent), Suzanne Featherstone (Labour and Co-operative), Lyndon Harrison (Reform UK), Abigail Jane Hubbucks (Green) and Oli Kimber (Conservative).

Polls opened at 07:00 BST and will close at 22:00.
