A seven-year-old boy has died in hospital after emergency services were called to reports of a child in water.

East of England Ambulance NHS Trust (EEAST) said it was called to Wimblington, near March, Cambridgeshire, at about 14:00 BST on Monday.

Cambridgeshire Police confirmed the incident happened in a small pond at Priory Golf Centre and the death was not being treated as suspicious.

The force also said no arrests had been made and a file had been passed to the coroner.

"We dispatched an ambulance, ambulance officer vehicle, rapid response vehicle and the Magpas Air Ambulance," an EEAST spokesperson added.

The child was taken to Peterborough City Hospital, it said.
