A pedestrian believed to have suffered life-threatening injuries following a collision with a car is now in a stable condition, police have said.

Emergency services were called to the A140 at Stuston, north of Brome, just before 08:00 BST on Tuesday, and the road was closed for several hours.

The collision, involving a black Volkswagen Golf, saw a pedestrian in his 50s taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge.

Suffolk Police said his condition had improved, describing it as being "stable with the injuries no longer as serious as first feared".

"He remains in hospital for treatment," a police spokesperson said.

After the incident road closures were in place at the A140/A143 roundabout and the B1077 junction, affecting traffic in both directions.

The road was reopened at about 15:40.

Officers once again appealed for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage which may assist them.
