Vacuum cleaner company founder to step down as CEO

The founder of a Worcester home appliance company is to step down as chief executive officer after 25 years.

Nick Grey said he could focus his time on designing products at Gtech, as the change sees him move into a new role with the firm.

The CEO, who founded Grey Technology in 2001, said his "heart has always been in the studio".

Gtech managing director Jothie Walford, who has been been with the company for nine years, will succeed Grey.

The British firm said it creates " innovative cordless home and garden appliances, including vacuum cleaners, floor sweepers, lawn mowers, and grass trimmers", after being founded in 2001 by Grey.

He "returns to his roots" overseeing the company's design arm, it stated, and would focus on engineering products for the brand with Gtech Global, operating from a new design hub.

Grey said: "Twenty-five years ago, Gtech sparked into life with a single idea at home.

"To see where we are now makes me incredibly proud."

The Brindley Road company said Walford had steered the firm's operations as managing director since 2022.

She stated she was looking forward to building on Grey's "incredible legacy and continuing Gtech's growth in the UK and beyond".

The founder said Walford "has a deep understanding of the company, how our customers live, and how we operate".
