Cyclist critical after electric bike involved in crash with van

A cyclist is in a critical condition after his electric mountain bike was involved in a crash with van in Midlothian.

Police Scotland said the incident happened on the A6106 Old Dalkeith Road, Dalkeith, at about 13:40 on Friday.

The 44-year-old man was taken to hospital following the collision but the driver of the white Ford Transit did not require medical treatment.

The road was closed to allow investigations to be carried out.

Sgt Mike Nash said: "I am appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident to contact us with any information.

"If anyone has dash cam footage, please check it as it could have captured images which could assist our inquiries."
