Murder arrest over teenager's 1998 disappearance
Cleveland PolicePolice investigating the suspected murder of a teenager who went missing 28 years ago have arrested a man.
Donna Keogh, 17, was last seen in central Middlesbrough on 28 April 1998 and is known to have travelled to Leeds during that year. Detectives said it was "strongly suspected" she was murdered shortly after she disappeared.
Cleveland Police confirmed a 64-year-old man from the Leeds area had been arrested early on Tuesday morning on suspicion of murder and was in custody.
Earlier this month the force said it was pursuing "fresh lines of inquiry" in West Yorkshire in an effort to end the "unbearable uncertainty" for Donna's family.
Det Ch Insp Steven Chatterton urged people who might have seen or spoken to the teenager to come forward.
"We are in close contact with Donna's family and they have lived with unbearable uncertainty for nearly 30 years," he said.
"We are determined to find out what happened to Donna for them.
"Somebody out there knows the truth."
