A 31-year-old e-bike rider is in a life-threatening condition after a collision with a car, police have said.

Emergency services were called to Newmarket Road in Cambridge at 12:10 GMT, and road closures remained in place until about 10:30.

The bike passenger, a 34-year-old woman, was also taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital with serious injuries and was said to be in a stable condition.

Officers said the driver of the car failed to stop at the scene and three people were later arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.

The force said a 19-year-old man from Luton and two 21-year-old men from High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire were being questioned.

It appealed for anyone with information or dashcam footage to get in touch.
