Millionth tree is planted in Humber Forest
Humber ForestThe millionth tree in a north of England community forest has been planted in East Yorkshire.
The Humber Forest, which was founded in 2022, is part of a larger scheme to plant 50 million trees across the north of England, from northern Lincolnshire to the Mersey Estuary.
More than 6,000 volunteers and schoolchildren have been involved in planting the trees, including developing community orchards.
A ceremony was held in West Park, Goole, to mark the milestone,
Leah Cave, Humber Forest partnership manager, said: "It's great to reach this milestone.
"We look forward to expanding the Humber Forest in years to come, and spreading the benefits it provides to the environment and local communities."
