Family PhotoA 20-year-old man died after the car he was driving was involved in a head-on collision, an inquest has heard.
Elis Alan Ogilvy-Bardsley, who lived in Pwllheli with his parents, died at the scene of the crash on the A499 near the town on the evening of 28 March.
Three other people were seriously injured in the incident, which happened between Llanaelhaearn and Y Ffôr, involving a black Ford Fiesta driven by the deceased and a red Audi A3.
Adjourning the hearing in Caernarfon for further inquiries, coroner Sarah Riley said the young man had sustained severe head injuries in the crash.

"The initial circumstances reported to me are that at 22:11 on 28 March, North Wales Police received multiple calls from members of the public reporting a two-vehicle traffic collision on the A499," said the coroner.
"There was a head-on collision with an Audi travelling in the opposite direction.
"Elis was pronounced deceased at the scene."
The coroner said a post-mortem examination gave a provisional cause of death as a severe blunt force head injury.
She said the circumstances of the collision remain under investigation by North Wales Police.
"I wish to extend my sincere condolences to Elis's family and friends," she added.
The inquest was adjourned while inquires continue.
In a statement following the crash, Elis' family said he had been accepted to study media at Bangor University and was a football fan who enjoyed travelling and supporting Manchester United and Wales.
"We will miss watching him laugh, joke and play with his younger siblings who looked up to him and loved the time they spent together having fun.
"We will forever miss how he lit up every room, how people would gravitate toward him and that he was always the life and soul of the party.
"We are heartbroken that Elis has been tragically taken from us. Our lives have been changed forever as a family."
