Police launch attempted murder probe after man stabbed in Ayr flat

Police are investigating an attempted murder after a 34-year-old man was stabbed in a flat in Ayr.

The incident happened within a property on Mill Street at about 16:15 on Saturday.

The man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment.

Det Sgt Davie Gillies said: "The victim sustained serious injuries during this incident so we are urgently appealing to anyone with any information that could assist our investigation to get in touch."
