The plans to build 300 homes on Stubcroft Farm have been withdrawn, but might be submitted again

Plans to build 300 homes in West Sussex have been withdrawn by a developer after it received hundreds of objections, including over possible flooding and sewage issues.

David Wilson Homes had sought permission from Chichester District Council in May 2024 to build on land at Stubcroft Farm, in East Wittering.

The council twice permitted the developers more time to look into the flooding issues and, given its similar concerns about the previous application, it was likely to refuse this one, the Local Democracy Reporting Service said.

Almost two years after the plans were submitted, agent Henry Adams LLP wrote to the council withdrawing the application.

However, it does not mean another application could be submitted at a later date.

The letter said: "While we remain confident that the matters raised in respect of the applications can be addressed and resolved, we recognise the time already afforded by the council in considering the proposals to date.

"Given the current position and acknowledging that further extensions of time are not possible, it is considered appropriate to withdraw the applications at this stage."
