A woman has been arrested on suspicion of child neglect after the death of a 14-week-old baby girl.

Emergency services went to a home in North Reddish in Stockport after a concern for welfare call at about 10:50 BST on Saturday.

The child was taken to hospital on Sunday but later died, Greater Manchester Police said.

A 36-year-old woman remains in custody for questioning, the force added.

A police spokeswoman said: "We are keeping an open mind and following all available lines of enquiry at this time.

"A scene will remain in place whilst we conduct our investigation, which is still in its early stages."
